Here’s What Our Interns Have To Share

CAP was my first exposure to the NGO sector. It was also experience to a different legal system, and I got to start media projects from the get-go, which I had never done before. The think tank morning was my favourite part.

I had a lot of take-aways from the various problems NGO’s face and how coming together can help resolve things.
CAP was flexible, clear and a varied learning experience. I couldn’t have asked for a better internship experience. To Meher’s credit, the program was extremely well organised and I have never had such a great interning experience.

At CAP, you are provided complete independence to learn. You are free to ask, seek, learn as much as you possibly can. The learning is not bookish but a mix of experiences of experts that may differ – a clash of ideas. I met seven corporates during the CSR project to understand their opinion on whether the mandatory 2% CSR is fair. Each one of them had different answers that justified their opinion with clear reasons. It teaches you to have an open mind and the best way to learn is to absorb their learning and ideas. That, you can’t learn from the textbooks. That is why CAP is a fantastic experience, not like any other.

Through working at CAP, I have learned:

That although India may have many problems, it also has no shortage of amazing people willing to dedicate their lives to alleviating these problems.
A little bit about the way which the NGO sector operates in India and what is required to successfully operate a charitable organisation in such a difficult context.
That I can never again complain about the Australian government bureaucracy. If I could change one thing about my stay, it would be the duration. I’m not ready to go home yet.
